One Step Beyond was founded as a roving party in 1990, by Wilson Santos, holding events mainly at rented-out banquet halls in New Jersey and loft spaces in NYC. The name One Step Beyond was adapted from the title of a 1979 record by the pioneering Ska group Madness. It had become the staple name for the parties, which retired in 2005, after running strong for 15 years. Throughout the 15 year life of the party, we've featured well known industry DJs like, DJ Disciple, Robert Owens, Roger Sanchez, Alexi Delano, David Hollands, Holmar Filipson, DJ Dove, Billy Shane, Shawn Hall, Francis Harris, Junior Sanchez, Nils Hess, Rulers of the Deep, Melvin Moore, Who Da Funk, Rob Salmon, Steven Mestre, Dietrich Schoeneman, DJ Surgeon, Lunic, Dan Q, Mike Bryant, Fred Valerio, Anthony Martinez, Ziggy Roman, Matt Edwards, Antranig and Domingo Cava, just to name a few.

In the year 2000, One Step Beyond Records was launched as an underground house label. The label has since released 7 EP series on 12" vinyl. The first release on the label self-titled One Step Beyond, was licensed on over 20 compilations world wide. Some releases have appeared on compilations of DJ's like Roger Sanchez, Steve Lawler, Victor Calderone, Terry Francis and Peter Farley. In 2004, the label released its first double mixed compilation entitled Electric Manipulation: Journeys to the Underground, mixed and compiled by Wilson Santos. It was widely distributed by Virgin, Tower and Amazon at the time. After taking a break from the music scene for over 4 years, One Step Beyond has relaunched in 2009 with previously unreleased projects which had been featured on compilations by Roger Sanchez and Victor Calderone. The label has now made some of the catalog releases available as digital downloads for the first time and is gearing up to release several brand new EPs in 2009. You can now purchase our releases on sites like dancetracks and traxsource.
